PIKO 51629 – Electric locomotive Rh 1044 ÖBB

Characteristics:

New for 2022: ÖBB’s Epoch IV livery of the Rh 1044. The distinctive face of the former ÖBB flagship locomotive has been excellently captured in the model, as has the striking side sections of the vehicles, which, with their pronounced creases and typical “portholes,” certainly posed challenges for mold making. The resulting impression of ideal visual impact is continued in the locomotive’s bogies. Last but not least, the new 1044 is technically impressive: a five-pole PIKO motor, with two finely balanced flywheels mounted on its shaft, ensures smooth propulsion. Model railroaders who prefer digital operation benefit from the PluX22 sound decoder already installed in the sound version. The now obligatory light change, like the attractive driver’s console illumination, was implemented using contemporary LED technology. What is not to be taken for granted, however, is the driver’s cab lighting, which is also included in the PIKO model and can be switched on in digital mode. For the first time, the machine appears in its original design with locomotive plates, Type VI pantographs, round buffers and four sand boxes.
