PIKO 51580 – Supplementary car BR 412 ICE 4

Characteristics:

New for 2021: Add-on car for the DB AG PIKO ICE 4, Ep. VI. In 2011, Deutsche Bahn AG commissioned Siemens Mobility to build up to 300 new high-speed trains for use in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The new BR 412/812 multiple units, jointly developed by Siemens and Bombardier, are powered by multiple cars, so-called powercars. The train configuration provides for various modular units ranging from five-car to 14-car trains. This concept allows the train to be easily adapted to the individual requirements of the transport company regarding the desired acceleration, speed, and number of seats. DB has so far ordered 85 twelve-car and 45 seven-car multiple units as a basic configuration, consisting of non-powered end or control cars, powered seating cars and an on-board bistro, as well as non-powered seating, dining, and service cars. The seven-car multiple unit has three powered cars and offers 456 seats over a length of 200 meters. A twelve-car trainset consists of six powered carriages and 830 seats, covering a length of 346 meters. Its top speed is 250 km/h. Its exterior design was based on the existing ICE fleet and further developed. Since December 2017, the first trains have been in regular service on the Hamburg–Würzburg, Stuttgart–Munich, and Hamburg–Berlin–Munich lines.
