From 1928 to 1943, a total of 775 class 86 steam locomotives were delivered to the German State Railway Company (DRG). After 1945, 44 locomotives of this class were operated by the PKP. In terms of design, the 1,000 HP locomotives were designed for a speed of 70-80 km/h. In addition to their main field of operations with freight and passenger trains, they were also used for shunting purposes. The last engine of this class was removed from the PKP fleet in 1975.
