Product Description
The forestry classic with wooden crate and cable winch
This combination brims with authentic forestry features! The Unimog 411 with a wooden crate for the lumbermen’s tools on the flatbed comes with the cable winch needed for the forest work. WIKING has created a prime example of how a model can tell an entire story. Moreover, the traditional model makers have treated the flatbed to a wooden plank look as well. The contemporary stake body trailer with air tyres, which was referred to as a “rubber wagon” at the time, already comes fully loaded with logs of timber. The combination embodies a new spirit of optimism in agriculture and the forestry sector. The initial investment made after the war was dedicated to a new tractive unit, while the wooden hay wagons from the days before the war were first converted to air tyres and later replaced altogether. The prototype, which was later to become a legend under the moniker of Unimog, was first introduced at the DLG exhibition held in 1948. The Boehringer brothers waited no longer than March of 1949 to start volume production of this tractor unit for agriculture and forestry in Göppingen. In 1951, production was moved to Gaggenau, the Unimog location for decades and Daimler-Benz took charge of the direction of the model family.
