PIKO 51133 – Electric locomotive BR 152 CAPTRAIN

Novelty 2026: In the early 1990s, there was a need for modern and powerful three-phase locomotives for freight train service, so that DB announced the development of such a vehicle in 1993. The Siemens/Krauss-Maffei consortium convinced and the prototype 152 001-4 was created by 1995, as the second member of the well-known EuroSprinter family. DB AG called up 170 machines from the subsequent order of 195 copies. With commissioning, all locomotives were assigned to the Bw Nürnberg marshalling station. From here, the vehicles are deployed in front of freight trains throughout Germany, with the hinterland traffic of the Port of Hamburg starting from the Maschen marshalling station being a focus. In addition to the locomotives of DB AG, Siemens also produced two machines under the name ES64F for the in-house leasing company “Dispolok”. These were later sold to the railway company ITL and are currently in use for Captrain in the striking neon green paintwork. For uncomplicated retrofitting of a decoder, the model has a modern PluX22 interface.
