WIKING 004605 – VW Golf I Cabriolet

The strawberry basket is back! The 1:87 model of Karmann’s open-air Golf rolls up in dark green. When it launched, the Golf I Cabrio seamlessly continued the legacy of the slightly long-in-the-tooth Käfer cabriolet – today, both of these models have risen to the status of vehicle legends of the Federal Republic’s post-war era. The smoothness of its engine and the added safety features allowed the VW Golf to win over drivers even in its first open-top season. The VW Golf I Cabrio, whose prototype was produced between 1979 to 1992, featured a hitherto unseen roll bar, which gave it a distinguishing look and earned it the nickname “Strawberry Basket”.
